You wouldn't let your child near prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet why would you allow a doctor to give them psychotropics. Email us at |
Welcome to Australian Consumer Patient Rights Group, an organisation established to increase awareness about the dangers and risks of prescribing antidepressants, antipsychotics and ADHD medication to Australian children as well as the risks involving adults.
We want to ensure better education related to the wellbeing and health or your children.
ACPR would like to offer assistance to anybody who wishes to obtain the facts and their legal rights if their child has been prescribed and treated with one of these drugs. You and your child have rights and we can show you how to enforce them, while directing you to information that ultimately could save the life of your child.
4000 AUSTRALIAN CHILDREN AND BABIES UNDER 10 INCLUDING
45 BABIES UNDER 12 MONTHS
HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED AN ANTIDEPRESSANT IN ONE SINGLE YEAR
278,000 PRESCRIPTIONS FOR ANTIDEPRESSANTS WERE WRITTEN FOR CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS
57,000 KNOWN ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS TO PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS
HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE
AUSTRALIAN DRUG REGULATOR THE THERAPEUTIC GOODS ADMINISTRATION (TGA)
www.tga.gov.au
Why are there so many reported drug reactions to these drugs and
Why have 10's of thousands of Australian Children been prescribed drugs that are not approved or recommended for their age group?
Has your child been prescribed a treatment using antidepressants, antipsyhotics or ADHD drugs?
Did your doctor get your Informed Consent?
Informed Consent is defined by the Therapeutic Goods Regulations as being told about all the risks and side affects.
Do you believe your child's behaviour has changed for the worse since taking any of these drugs?
Has your child suffered from;
There is a scientific test available to check if your child has the crucial genes in their liver that are required to metabolise the majority of these drugs. This science can also explain the dangers of combining prescription drugs as well as over the counter products, that inconjunction with psychotropics can initiate the same symptoms by inhibiting these enzymes.
Pyschotropic drugs are all very dangerous because they are not "stable" a simple purchase at your local chemist for something as basic as cough syrup can result in a Contraindication which results in serious and life threatening side affects.
Whether your child is genetically polymorphic, or has not yet developed the necessary genes, or they are being prescribed these drugs in combination, you and your child have rights.
ACPR would like to assist you in obtaining further information and help to ensure the safety and health of your child preceeds all else.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration have already determined that these drugs are not safe enough to be registered or approved for the use in children, unfortunately this message has not reached your doctor, pharmacists or health care centre. You can contact the TGA and demand they ensure these warnings reach those who are in control of the prescription pads and your childs health care needs.
ACPR is a organisation run by volunteers, anybody with the passion or skills to assist our organisation are encouraged to contact us.

ACPR wants to provide support and assistance to those of you who have suffered from inappropriate treatment and consultation after being prescribed these drugs. The legislation in Australia is supposed to be protecting both the legal and human rights of all its citizens but what we have found is that these laws are not being regularly enforced.
Currently many of these laws are being reviewed to further impinge on your civil liberties and your rights and those of your children to be provided with safe and effective health care.

We encourage your support to ensure this does not happen, we intend to ensure that the Government who are supposed to be protecting us comply with these laws and regulations and appropriately regulate these dangerous drugs that are currently being handed out like “Candy”.
Nearly 57,000 Adverse Reactions related to these drugs have been reported to the Therapeutic Goods Administration TGA who were supposed to be regulating on our behalf yet they have failed to recall or increase the warnings in spite of the alarming figures of injury and death.
What is more disturbing is that even though the TGA have not approved most of these drugs for use in children, the PBS continues to fund them, hundreds of thousands every year at the taxpayers expense. Even though the PBS eligibility criteria strictly states that drugs must first be approved by the TGA it would appear they have decided to “bend the rules” when it comes to psychiatric medication and drugging our children.
The PBS schedule is the number one marketing tool in the country for prescription drugs, once the pharmaceutical companies get their products on the lists, their sales boom. The current listing for Antidepressants on the PBS Schedule does not alert the consumer or the Doctor to the fact that these drugs are restricted to adults only. The PBS (pharmaceutical benefits scheme) confirmed they have officially approved their listing on the register against the advice from the TGA and now the pharmaceutical companies do not have to bother going to the expense or time of conducting any further trials or experiments to try and prove the drugs are safe and effective for our children because the government have given them a free pass and government funding without making sure they went the normal channels to ensure safety to the public. This is unlawful and unacceptable and I encourage you all to write to your local MP’s or contact the Health Minister directly.
Our new Health Minister Nicola Roxon recently advised she is aware these drugs are not recommended for use in children but has no intention of updating the restrictions to ensure the restrictions alert doctors that these drugs are only suitable for adults. She states that it is her opinion that if she did so she would also have to consider other prescribing considerations such as Race, Gender and Religious Beliefs, I think the Minister is confused, the warnings from the pharmaceutical companies Product Information and relevant scientific trial data refer to Human Children irrespective of Race, Gender or Religious Beliefs, for a copy of the Ministers letter please contact us.
